Effective immediately, the committee will no longer review proposals that do not include a site permission letter (if applicable) or are otherwise incomplete upon submission. The REC is unable to conduct a thorough review of proposals without access to all relevant research materials, which includes letters of permission to conduct research at a specific location (site). Therefore, it is imperative that you factor in the time to request and obtain a site permission letter (again, if applicable) into your timeline for submission to the REC. It is understood that by granting permission, the site has been made aware of the procedures and potential outcomes of the research.
Proposals that do not require site permission letters are exempt from this. Projects in which site permission is dependent upon REC approval (ex: Jefferson County Public Schools) will still be reviewed without the letter. However, these proposals should note that the procedures have been discussed with, and there is initial agreement from, the specific site (school) that the project would feasible and permitted at that location pending REC and JCPS approval. Site permission letters for such proposals must still be obtained from JCPS and provided for REC records.
