The purpose of the REC is to protect the safety and privacy of human subjects research participants.
The Spalding REC is charged with reviewing all research projects involving human subjects to:
Assure that research is conducted in accordance with the Department of Health and Human Services policy for protection of human research subjects as written in the code of federal regulations (CFR)Title 45 Part 46.
Regulations are based on the Belmont Report / Common Rule (2018), which identifies basic ethical principles and guidelines that address ethical issues arising from the conduct of research with human subjects.
